Love Starts Within: A Journey to Discovering Love

Love is a universal language that touches our hearts, lights up our souls, and brings joy to our lives. While we often seek love in external sources, sometimes we forget that the greatest love of all resides within ourselves. Proverbs 19:8 says, "The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper" (NIV).

Picture this: you're sitting at a cozy coffee shop, or at home sipping your favorite SoHo blend, hoping to find that special someone. Don’t front, we all have done it. You look around, your heart pounding, and then... suddenly, your gaze locks with the barista behind the counter. Cupid's arrow strikes! But what you really see is your own reflection in the espresso machine. We've all been there!

But fret not, dear friends! Instead of frantically searching for love in the external world, let’s take a moment to reflect on how the love we are really searching for resides inside of us. So, the journey to finding love starts within us.

Have you ever found yourself singing in the shower, pretending to be the next big R&B Diva? Or perhaps you've danced like nobody's watching, winding your hips to Chaka Khan, only to realize that everyone was indeed watching? These moments of genuine joy, where we embrace our quirks and imperfections, are the true reflections of self-love. But, Sis, now don’t go winding it in the club anymore, I promise they aren’t looking because you dance well. Not everyone knows you are dancing your troubles away. But, hey…we learn and we live.

Life is too short to take ourselves too seriously. We all have our idiosyncrasies and peculiarities that make us unique, lovable, and downright hilarious. Instead of fretting over our flaws, let's learn to laugh at them. Remember, Jesus himself encouraged us to “love our neighbors as ourselves” (Matthew 22:39, NIV), emphasizing the importance of self-love as the foundation for spreading love to others.

As we dive deeper into the sea of self-love, we must learn to embrace our imperfections and celebrate our strengths. Imagine a world where we wore our hearts on our sleeves and reveled in our true selves, unapologetically. It would be a world filled with contagious laughter, abundant joy, and unconditional love.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NIV) - "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

In a world where love is often sought outside ourselves, let us take a moment to realize that the greatest love story begins within. The Bible reminds us that love is patient, kind, and selfless. As we embrace our idiosyncrasies, laugh at our imperfections, and nurture self-love, we become vessels of love that radiate warmth to the world around us.

So, my friends, let's embark on this journey of self-discovery, armed with humor, grace, and a willingness to embrace our true selves. Remember, love starts within, and as we let it flourish, we become beacons of light, spreading love and joy to all who cross our paths.

Yours truly,

Ms. Blyss
